Lately I’ve been craving nature. I guess in my mind, that means the mountains and hiking. In California, hiking trails were abundant. In fact, I grew up just a few hours from Yosemite, arguably the best hiking in the United States.
I’ve hiked half dome in Yosemite several times; the epic 16 miler has the ability to make you feel powerful yet insignificant, like you’re standing on the top of the world.
At the top
I’m astounded by the amount of time that can go by where I literally do not interact with nature in any capacity. Frankly, this is never something I would have noticed in another stage of my life. But sitting for 8 hours in a clean, sterile office building really makes you want to get out. I’d really just like some fresh air.
So my wish this week is that I could hike somewhere awesome this weekend. The only “hiking” (if you can call it that) that is near me is mostly trail walking. It’s just not the same without some steep inclines and a crazy satisfying view at the top.
And while I’m throwing out wishes, I wish that my California bestie was with me. She took the photo above and I can’t imagine a better hiking buddy.
Miss you Kaylin!
