A few things on this crisp fall Thursday…
I loved this article about why millennials love bullet journals. I also love arguing passionately about how millennials are not the entitled brats that other generations make them out to be. I had no idea these things were related.
We watched Won’t You Be My Neighbor? and it restored my faith in humanity (briefly). I had no idea that Mr. Rogers was a minister and as a non-religious person, I really appreciate how he chose to live out his faith.
N shared this video with me this week and it was super interesting. The 99% is a Myth – Here’s How it Really Breaks Down.
After a long search (including this entire try-on post), I finally found the perfect pair of Levi’s. I wound up buying these Wedgie Fit Levi’s* from Lord & Taylor. I’m in love with them.
Of note, if you have an Amex you get Shoprunner for free. Shoprunner gets you free two day shipping and returns to a bunch of stores and Lord & Taylor is one of them (I’ve never actually shopped there in real life). We have the Amex Blue Cash Preferred and it’s seriously amazing. We get 6% cash back at grocery stores and 3% at gas stations. I’ve done a lot of research and I’m convinced it’s one of the best cash back cards out there (if you qualify for the preferred).
Tuesday I had a really really good day. Those things I said about what I had to do to succeed as a WAHM? I did all those things and it was awesome and I got so much work done and my kid was happy and oh man, if I could just repeat that every day it would be awesome.
I shared a pic of my dinner last night on my story and a bunch of people asked for the recipe. Here it is. I’ve made it many times and it’s delicious.
I started using ebates and you guys, my mind is blown. I’d heard of it before and wondered if it was legit. I stumbled across it on a personal finance blog I read and they raved about it and now I know why. I added the chrome browser extension and now every time I go to a site where I could get cash back, I get a notification in the top right corner of my browser. You literally go to whatever site, you see the notification about cash back in the corner, click it, it takes you away from the site for a second and then right back to the page you were originally on. It’s stupid easy and with the browser extension, not at all inconvenient. I think the main complaint is that they payouts take a while but if you’re used to blogging payouts (which usually take months) or you’re just patient, it’ll be fine. I got $9 back on a a single hotel stay! Use this link and you’ll get $10 back on your first purchase over $25 (and so will I – thanks!).
I’ve been re-watching Grey’s Anatomy and I can confidently say that seasons 9/10 are when they start to get iffy on the content. I’m still watching Grey’s current episodes and I’ve enjoyed the last few seasons but it there was definitely a lull there in the middle.
We just spent close to $150 on babyproofing stuff. It had to happen but it also honestly made me wonder what families do who can’t afford childproofing supplies. Also, why are baby gates so expensive?!
Ben is so close to being on the move (hence the babyproofing). He can definitely creatively get to where he wants to go (a combo of crawling, stretching, rolling, etc.) and he’s days (or hours) away from being able to legitimately crawl. He’s that close. Our little preemie guy is doing so well with his PT!
I re-read my post about the NICU and it feels like that was forever ago but I also never imagined that we’d still be experiencing lingering effects of him being born early. He tested mildly anemic at his one year well baby visit and apparently this is super common for preemies – babies get most of their iron stores in the last few weeks of pregnancy. We’ve been good about his supplements but I really went for it and this vegetarian mama made him actual meatballs last week. That’s love!
I hate Halloween and I refuse to buy pumpkins that I’m just going to throw out. Yesterday I did buy new Christmas stockings for the four of us though. Yes, I’m one of those people. Can we fast forward to the most wonderful time of the year? Because I’m here for it.
And if you’re making weekend plans, here’s your friendly reminder that pumpkin patches look a lot more fun on Instagram than they actually are.
We’re headed to the zoo this morning. I hope those Gorillas are feeling saucy. They’re my favorite (yes, this is my life now).
Happy Thursday!
