Welcome to Lifted Her Look days 12-16! I’m still having a ton of fun with this challenge. If you missed the first two Lifted Her Look posts, you can find them here and here.
I skipped Sunday because well, it rained and it was just a leggings and football day and I’m not going to pretend that I put on real clothes when I didn’t. Just keeping it real.
As always, these posts and the links below are not at all encouraging you to RUN OUT AND BUY EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW HURRY. I’m sorry but it feels so yucky to me when bloggers pull that “run! run!” stuff. Buy what you love and what’s in your budget and please don’t feel pressure to buy something because I wore it (or anyone else did).
I note below where I bought things secondhand from thrift and consignment stores and I’d encourage you to do the same if your budget doesn’t allow for lots of trendy clothes (mine doesn’t either).
The consumer culture of blogging is a little much for me sometimes and my goal for this challenge was not to add to that or participate in that, but rather to get creative with what I already own and be more adventurous with my existing wardrobe. I also want to show that you can have a trendy and functional wardrobe while shopping exclusively when items are on sale or buying secondhand.
I did not pay full price for a single item I’m wearing in any of the outfits below (*pats herself on the back*). Cool. Let’s get started.
Here was my favorite outfit from this week:
It wasn’t my absolute favorite as I was wearing it but looking back over the photos, I actually love how it looks. Simple, warm, and just trendy enough.
Day 12
This look was inspired by Marissa from Style Cusp. It was not actually on her Instagram feed, it was on her liketoknow.it feed. The look below is clickable and will take you directly to her liketoknow.it link to shop her pieces.
Here’s my version:
I found this Express cardigan at Plato’s Closet for $16 – brand new! It looks a lot like this one (currently on sale for $29).
Tee is the Madewell Whisper tee. This one. I don’t recommend it (although if you do buy it, buy it from Nordstrom as they have a better return policy than Madewell and shipping/returns are free). It is not even six months old and already has a little hole right where it comes to a V. Do yourself a favor and buy this one from Target instead. It’s $8 and I have it in 3 colors and have washed them all dozens of times and they hold up well.
Jeans are the Levi’s 311 Shaping Skinny Jeans. I love them. I got them for $20 on Poshmark. You can find them new here.
Shoes are the Kristin Cavallari Chinese Laundry mules. I wonder if they’re going to stop making them now that Kristin and the brand parted ways. They’re so comfy and I think they’d be a great option for keeping at work in the winter to wear after you change out of your snow boots.
Day 13
This look was lifted from Lauren Kay Sims, one of my favorites. She just had a little girl so please know that I’m 100% aware that holding a newborn would make this look 1000 times cuter.

Here’s my version:
This sweater was an Abercrombie find on black friday – 50% off. It’s available here. It’s currently 30% off but truthfully, I wouldn’t pay $47 for it. I’d wait for at least 40-50% off. Your call though!
Jeans are very old Hollister that I got at Goodwill. They are these high-rise jean leggings (on sale for $29) and they feel like sweatpants. They’re perfect with a taller boot.
Boots are Sole Society. If you saw my Insta story then you’ll know that when I bought these boots I didn’t realize they were over-the-knee and I thought there was no way I could pull them off. They were final sale though so I kept them and over the last three years I’ve actually worn them a ton! They grow on you and also – they’re really warm in the winter because so much of your leg is covered! I’m currently coveting this pair. Suede seems to be much more in style this season.
Day 14
This look was inspired by Nasreen from Hey Nasreen. I found her on liketoknow.it and I love love love her style. Plus, Nasreen is my absolute favorite Persian girls name and it was one N and I threw around as a middle name if Ben had been a girl. He wound up with Reza as his middle name.
Anyway, here’s her version. She only posted this on liketoknow.it so feel free to click the photo to go to liketoknow.it and shop her look. Nasreen often wear skinny jeans and doesn’t cuff them. She lets the jean go right in to the bootie. I hadn’t tried this before so I gave it a go.
Here’s my version:
This tee is perfection! It’s the Old Navy Linen Blend Boyfriend tee. I bought it in two colors when it was on super sale because I loved the tank version so much this summer.
Note: when you order from Old Navy ALWAYS use ebates. They consistently have 6-10% cash back via ebates (it’s at 8% as I write this). Sign up here and get $10 back with your first purchase.
Vest is also Old Navy. It’s not puffy so it still works under winder coats without making you look like a marshmallow.
Jeans are the Gap sculpt jeans. I’m a believer guys. If taking a mirror selfie nearly every day has proven anything, it’s that the sculpt fabric actually does sculpt. I do look thinner in these (in the thigh area) than in my other jeans. Just a thought (and it won’t stop me from continuing to wear all of my jeans).
Booties are Sole Society. I got them on super sale a while back.
Day 15
I recently found Corrine via liketoknow.it and I’m so glad I did! She has great style and it’s perfect for being trendy and cute while Momming.
Here’s her original post, which inspired me to try a wider leg jean with booties!

And here’s my version:
Necklaces are Stella and Dot (the bar one) and Gorjana (the smaller one).
The bar one actually has our wedding date on it. I received this as a gift from my best friend once we finalized our wedding date. It’s a great gift idea for any friends who just got engaged. I’ve found that Gorjana gold jewelry really holds up well and this necklace is still nice and gold after several years of frequent wear. Just a note, I do always hate when I buy gold jewelry and the gold rubs off or looks tarnished after a while.
Sweater is a very old basic black sweater from Loft.
Jeans were a $10 red tag special at H&M. I freaking love those! These are similar.
I wasn’t sure how to wear these in the winter, since I’d only worn this wider leg jean in the summer with sandals. I took a leap after seeing Corrine’s post and paired them with booties and LOVED how it looked. I’ll be re-wearing this combo all winter and now I want another pair of wider leg jeans.
Booties are Sole Society.
Day 16
This look was inspired by Erica Louie, who I recently found via liketoknow.it. I swear for every one outfit she posts on Instagram, she posts three more on liketoknow.it. So many great ideas! Again, this wasn’t on Instagram, so I’ll leave the photo below and you can click it to shop her look.
Here’s my version:
Hat is from Abercrombie last year. I got it on black friday for $10. Here is this year’s version and it’s $15 right now.
Henley is from Abercrombie also. I got it on black friday this year for 50% off. I liked it because I wanted a white one but I kept finding henleys that were kind of see thru. This one is completely opaque and feels super high quality. Runs a little small (but is meant to be slim fit).
Sweater is last year (two years ago maybe?) from Nordstrom. This is the only clothing item I own from Nordstrom, if you can believe it! I don’t think they sell it anymore but if I wanted something similar, I’d buy this one (on sale for $37).
Jeans are the Levi’s Wedgie jeans. They don’t give you a wedgie but they do make your butt look good (just sayin). These are the exact ones I bought (from Lord & Taylor) and they’re currently on sale for $34. PLUS don’t forget to use ebates and get cash back. It’s at 8% as I write this, making them $32. Plus if you have an Amex, use your free Shoprunner membership to get shipping free from Lord & Taylor (that’s what I did).
Booties are these BP Barris Block Heel booties from Nordstrom. They are absurdly comfortable and have never given me a single blister. I’ve walked all over the city in them. These go on sale a lot so I suggest waiting for a sale to buy them.
I hope you enjoyed these looks and I’d love for you to do your own version and lift someone else’s look right along with me! If you do, use the hashtag #liftedherlook on Instagram (and tag me!) so I don’t miss it. I’ll share your looks on my stories!
