Spring Makeup: What I’m Wearing Now

Spring Makeup 2014

I always change up my makeup routine for spring. As someone who was loving the berry lips of winter, I’ve put away my darker colors in favor of lighter products. I’ve also discovered some new products that I love and had to share.

1. I received a sample of the L’Oreal Pore Vanisher in this month’s issue of Allure. I will use basically any sample so I slathered this stuff on my face, not expecting much. Within minutes I realized that I didn’t need to put on BB Cream or foundation. Nothing. It feels like velvet. It is the best my skin has looked recently and I added some concealer and skipped everything else. I went out to buy it immediately (with the $2 coupon from Allure).

2. Beauty bloggers rave about this stuff and I have too. I still use this under my eyes. I still love it. I recently learned to apply it by making an L shape under the eye and down the side of the nose, then crossing that over and connecting it, making a triangle, then filling it in. It feels like a lot of concealer but it makes my eyes look so much brighter!

3. I’ve been looking for a dupe for Benefit They’re Real Mascara for quite some time. I’d read good things about the green tube version of this but when I saw this pink tube with the “false lash” on the side, I knew I had to try it. It is Physicians Formula Organic Wear Fake Out Mascara. I love this stuff. It does a better job of lengthening than my usual L’Oreal Voluminous. Though it isn’t quite They’re Real, it’s the closest thing I’ve found at the drugstore. It stays on all day (and keeps my eyelashes curled, which non-waterproof mascara usually does not do) and washes off way easier than regular mascara.

4. Ulta got me with their damn buy one, get one 50% off and I wound up with this Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Charcoal. I wanted a charcoal color pencil, as it’s softer for spring. It does what it says it does.

5. I’ve bought too many of these Maybelline Color Whispers recently. The shade Lust for Blush is the perfect cool toned pink.

6. I’ve only been wearing blush for about a year. Can you believe it? Because now I’m obsessed with the stuff. Ulta Cheek Color in Girlie is by far the most natural color I’ve found.

7. Revlon Nail Enamel in Flirt is a light, punchy lavender, perfect for spring.

This is exactly what I was wearing on my face in yesterday’s post. It’s my new go-to beauty routine.

What products are you loving for spring?

  • I definitely need to try that mascara! I have a little tube of the benefit kind and while it does look great I never use it because it is seriously IMPOSSIBLE to take off. Which I realize is kind of the point, but at the end of the night I don’t want to have to use eye make up remover like 4 times in a row. Thanks for sharing these!

  • I love the charcoal eyeliner! I have the black one as well for my nights out, but charcoal is perfect for the more subtle occasions.

As for blush, I don’t know how to apply the darn stuff! I either look like I have nothing on, or my whole face magical turns red. If you have any tips it would be greatly appreciated.

    • Hi Erika!

I think that the key with blush is to find a color that looks really natural on. This Ulta Blush in Girlie looks a lot like my natural flushed color and it’s very light. I have other shades of blush that are either too subtle or too intense, like you mentioned. I have a blush brush from ELF (at Target, $1) and I just put it on the apples of my cheeks. I do one plop of the brush in to the blush and then sweep. I think the lighting of where you are when you apply it is key too. Good luck!

  • I got that same Pore Vanisher sample and coupon! AND – the same results! I was amazed too – it really works without makeup :). I mentioned it in my Monday post – but will have to write about it more later :).

  • I have ONLY heard good things about the Maybelline concealer- definitely picking some up today!!

    • I’m a secret beauty blog lurker and major beauty youtube watcher. Tons of beauty bloggers and vloggers raved about the stuff. It covers well for a product that is not super thick. I kind of pat it in but kind of let it sit there.

  • Thanks for the recommendation. I am definitely going to find that pore vanisher today!

  • I think I might have to finally bite the bullet and try one of the color whispers, I’ve been holding off so long because I already have far too many lip butters, but you’ve tipped me over the edge!

  • Love the suggestions! I’m always on the hunt for a good under eye concealer… May have to bite the bullet and just go out and buy this one 🙂

  • I love pastel nails for spring, I can’t wait until it feels springy enough here to bring out the pale polish.

  • Love the Color Whispers! I have the Organic Wear Fake-Out too and love it except for the fact it’s not water-proof.

Right now I love any of the Tarte blushes for a beautiful matte pop of spring color.

  • I can’t wait to try #2! I’m always looking for new undereye brighteners because no matter how good my make-up looks, it always seems like dark circles come peering through. Thanks!
