Want to know a little wedding secret? Part of the reason I wanted a winter wedding is so I could wear a fabulous long-sleeved lace wedding gown. I know. It’s completely silly. But I’ve just never been a strapless dress kind of girl. I knew I wanted sleeves. That and I secretly want it to lightly flurry. Emphasis on the lightly. A long-sleeved lace gown with my handsome groom, standing in the city in the snow? I can’t even.
And so, every bridal shop we’ve been in, I’ve started with “what do you have with sleeves?” The answer is usually, “not much”. I hopped in and out of many bridal salons before I found the dress, simply because each salon usually only had 2-4 dresses with sleeves.
So if you’re in to long-sleeved dresses like me, check out some of the gorgeous styles below. Some of them I actually tried on. I’m basically on a quest to bring back long-sleeved wedding dresses as a trend. It’s happening.
David’s Bridal Oleg Cassini Long Sleeve Lace Trumpet Gown – This dress is STUNNING on. The picture doesn’t do it justice. It is shown with a champagne/nude underlay with white embroidered lace over. The nude is much darker in real life.
Sottero and Midgley Danae – This lace has a metallic thread in it that is beautiful in real life. It gives the dress a little something extra.
Maggie Sottero Darla – The train on this one? Gorgeous. I would have been tempted by it if it didn’t have the bell sleeves and attached belt.
So, have I convinced you that long-sleeved bridal gowns are making a comeback? If you liked this, you might like 10 things no one tells you about wedding dress shopping or 8 (more) things no one tells you about wedding dress shopping.
