Blog Reboot

I started this blog because I was bored at work.

I was 23 and working a corporate job sitting in a grey cubicle all day. I’d never much considered that I needed a creative outlet but there I found myself, reading blogs everyday and wondering…could I do that too? Would writing be a good time filler between conference calls and spreadsheets? And it was. It filled a void in my post-college life that I didn’t even know I had and helped me stay sane during a time when I had little money, few friends (on this coast), and too much time on my hands. Read my very first post here.

Fast forward to 2017, a year that I averaged about one blog post per month after basically falling out of the blogging game in 2016. I’ve always felt my creativity ebb and flow. I’ve written most during periods of my life with more work flexibility or times of my life with less professional satisfaction. Sometimes I’ve simply been too busy enjoying my personal life to make time to come to this space (like this year).

But then time goes by and I start to miss it. My “Blog Post Ideas” list on my phone fills up. I read other blog posts (as I always do – I’ve never stopped being a blog reader) and remember…oh yeah, I can do that!

All this to say, I’m jumping back into this thing in 2018. I’ve said that before but I think this time it’ll stick.

Instead of pressuring myself to pump out five post a week (ah, the good ol’ days…), I’ll be around 2-3 times a week. As always, this blog will be filled with topics relevant to my actual life. That now includes motherhood but still includes so many of the things I’ve loved sharing here in my pre-kid days.

So four blog names (yes, four) and nearly six years later, I’ve still got more to say. Cheers if you’re still here and most of all, THANK YOU.

Want to help me kick this off in the right direction? I’d love to know what you’d like to see more of or any other feedback you have. Please leave a comment below if anything comes to mind.

  • Here’s to actually sticking with blogging! (That’s my goal too)

  • yay! Good to see you back again! i’ve always loved how you bounce around between different things and I look forward to motherhood being added to that list of topics.

  • I am all about the blog break! Experiencing life and never writing when you’re not in the mood. Which means sometimes it takes me a week to finish one post. Lol

I’m really looking forward to reading your stuff again, I follow you on other social media and LOVE your pictures. 💕

  • LOL same goal over here… so we’re in this together! I love your lovely pictures! 🙂

  • I’m right there with you Nadine. There’s no way I could do 5 blog posts a week, even though at one point that came easy. Now I’m happy with 1 or 2 posts a week. I’m glad that you’re going to keep your blog and talk about your life and connect with your readers. You’re one of the few lifestyle bloggers who is true to yourself and blog the old school way, like me. I really appreciate that about you. Any suggestion I can think of would be talk about your daily routine or what movies you like or books you want to read and haven’t gotten around to, you know stuff like that 🙂 and of course anything with motherhood. I’m not a mom yet but I like to think I’m living vicariously through you. Happy New Year girlie!!

  • I discovered your blog in the last year (I guess during your down time!) and I really loved how genuine your space is. I miss the days of Livejournal and blogging just because. I am most interested about how other people live their lives, it’s a different perspective from mine and I enjoy “lifestyle blogs” the most I guess because it incorporates all different aspects of that bloggers life. I am looking forward to reading more about Motherhood as I will be trying for a family this year too. I love your Instagram as well 🙂 I look forward to following along with your adventures in 2018!

  • I love learning about Philadelphia through your explorations!

  • This makes me so happy! I love your voice as a writer and I’ve loved reading about your transition into motherhood 🙂

  • I’m with you, girl! Keeping up with a blog is tough. I’m not sure how we ever managed to crank out 5 posts a week! So glad to hear you plan to blog more this year!

  • Ha completely on the same page as you! I love reading your thoughts and observations in this new chapter of your life, and also – bring on the Archie + baby Bennett cuddle pics 🙂

  • Happy to have you back, Ms eastandblog! 😉

  • I’m hoping to do the same in 2018. Good luck to us!

  • I’ve really enjoyed your motherhood-related posts, also I enjoy learning about Philadelphia because it’s a city I’ve never explored and I’m so interested in checking it out! Plus I’d love to hear more about your thoughts on managing your career with a baby and what you envision for your longer-term professional goals.
