Current Beauty Loves

Current Beauty Routine

I’ve shared this before but I’m a major makeup and beauty product junkie. I do massive amounts of research before buying any product and even if I love something, I rarely buy it twice. There’s always something new to try! Plus these days I’m constantly trying to fake a pregnancy glow. Seriously, is that even a real thing? Because my glow is all highlighter.

I love when bloggers share their makeup routines so today I thought I’d share mine. I also love looking back at the products I used and loved years ago because it’s always funny to see how much I loved a product that I now never buy (here’s what I loved in May 2015).

Here’s what I’m loving these days (in the order that I put them on), post skincare routine (a post on skincare is coming soon). All products are linked at the bottom.

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue in Vanilla

I’m on my third tube of this stuff! So you know it’s gotta be good. This is a great option for my dry skin ladies out there. It does a good job of not clinging to dry patches, offers light to medium coverage, and makes your skin look nicely even. On days that I have blemishes or redness issues, I go back in over top with the stick foundation listed below or concealer (depending on the severity).

Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation in 117/Y225

I truly never thought that a stick foundation would work on dry skin. My foundation issue is always that I wind up with dry patches or little rolls of dry skin mixed with foundation (cute, right?). I kept coming across this product in my search for a foundation that works well on dry skin. I was super skeptical that a stick foundation would work because I’d always assumed they were too dry to work on dry skin. I was wrong.

I apply this by dabbing my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge on to the top of the foundation. I do not apply the foundation directly to my face (it would be way too much product and more full coverage than I need). This foundation is supposed to look like skin and that’s exactly what it does. The color is a perfect match for me so I usually use this only where I need it on days that I need more full coverage. It’s super blendable and once it’s on, it looks like you’re wearing nothing and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing heavy makeup.

Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in Parfait

This comes in 26 shades! Well done, Sephora. This has great reviews on the Sephora site and since I’m a little cheap about concealer (I always run out so fast), I decided to try this instead of the Nars Creamy Concealer I’ve been eyeing for years but never tried.

I’m glad I tried this because I’m on my second tube and I think it works fantastically well. The coverage is excellent and because they have so many shade options, the one I have matches my skin exactly. I feel like this is the first time I can be one of those people who just plops on a little concealer and runs out the door. I can use this just on blemishes and under the eyes and let the rest of my skin breathe!

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer

This matte bronzer has amazing reviews on beauty sites and for good reason – it’s a perfect not-too-warm not-too-cool bronzer. The shade works super well on fair-skinned ladies like myself and doesn’t make me look muddy or orange. It looks lovely with a pop of blush on the cheekbones and a little highligher if you’re feeling saucy.

Milani Baked Bronzer in Dolce

This was a recent purchase after about a year of using Too Faced Milk Chocolate bronzer. I wanted something with a little radiance (but not too shimmery) for days I really wanted to glow. So far I like this but not enough to keep me from buying Bare Minerals Invisible Bronze (which I’d been eyeing for a while). It’s not quite as glowy as I’d like but I keep reaching for it and because I do feel it’s a little darker than the Too Faced and I’m a little more tan right now. I think this will be out of the rotation if I really love the Bare Minerals Invisible Bronze I ordered.

Too Faced Love Flush in Justify My Love

I got a set of three Too Faced blushes around Christmas time and this shade is my favorite. It’s a pigmented bubble gum pink so even though my compact is teeny tiny I still have so much product left. I’ve found that this just looks really natural on me and you need so little of it to do the job.

Tarte 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty

This was my free gift on my birthday at Sephora. Last I checked it’s still a birthday offering so if your birthday month is coming up, I highly recommend this. It also came with a matte lip paint which was just okay. This is a muted dusty pink and is easy to apply. That said, it probably would only work well on fair to medium skin tones simply because it is fairly muted. Because this isn’t as bright pink, I use it on days that I just want to sweep on one product instead of doing bronzer and blush. It looks really natural and lovely.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe

This is a great dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz. It is very very slightly less creamy but I cannot justify buying the Anastasia Brow Wiz at double the price for such a small formula difference. The shade blonde is too warm for me (might work for redheads) but the taupe is just right.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in Soft Browny Brows

This has fantastic reviews on and I feel like it’s a good dupe for Benefit’s Gimme Brow. What I love about this is that the colors are not too warm, something I always have an issue with as a blonde. I use this on days that I want to quickly define my brows a bit but I’m running late or am feeling lazy. You also can’t beat the price – $2.99!

Covergirl Perfect Point Eyeliner in Charcoal

Always a go to for me. It just works. I’ve tried many other eyeliners and I always wind up picking up this one.

L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

This new release is supposed to be a dupe for Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. The bottle even looks similar. Unfortunately I’m the wrong person to ask because I’ve never tried Better than Sex mascara.

That said, the jury is out on this mascara for me. I’m using the waterproof version because I struggle to keep my stick straight eyelashes curled. I find this clumps faster than other mascaras I’ve used recently including Covergirl Full Bloom mascara and Covergirl So Lashy but it does give more dramatic results. It did hold my curl all day and certainly made my lashes voluminous. I usually like more defined, separated lashes so I really have to be careful when applying to make sure it doesn’t get too clumpy. This mascara is growing on me as I learn how to work with it. Lots of thin coats seems to be the trick.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Cognito

I think I finally found the perfect shade of pinky nude lipstick for my skintone. This shade is not completely opaque and it takes a few swipes back and forth for it to really show up. I wish the formula lasted longer and was a little more hydrating but I’ll continue to buy this because I just love how wearable it is. To me it’s the perfect work appropriate lipstick and is wearable with any eye look.

Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon in Blush Burst

I bought this on a whim and was hoping it would be just slightly pigmented (more like a balm). On first application, I hated it. I thought it would a pretty, pinky nude but on me it looks a bit more warm and coral. I soon realized that if I just apply a swipe on the top and the bottom instead of really layering it on, it’s more natural and summery. I love the texture of this and I feel like it sinks in to your lips instead of sitting on them. It pairs beautifully with minimal makeup and dewy skin. This has become my go-to for a natural summer look.

I intentionally didn’t list the highlighter I use because I realized the one I use has parabans in it and so I recently purchased the Bare Minerals Invisible Bronze and Invisible Glow. I’d sampled them a few times at Ulta and found a deal on QVC – both products plus a brush for $44! They’re usually $28 each. I’m going to keep an eye on QVC in the future because I was surprised by how many deals they had on products I usually buy at Sephora or Ulta.

I’ve linked the products I use below, including the tools I love to use to apply these. These are affiliate links so any purchases may bring me a small amount of commission. Thank you!

So my straight lashed ladies, any mascara recommendations? I’m constantly looking for a mascara that will hold my curl!
