20 Celebs You Didn’t Know Went By A Stage Name

Sometimes I like to ponder about what I’d call myself if I was famous. I’ve been told many times that I look like “a Nadine” and that once people know me, they can’t picture me with any other name. I can never figure out if that’s a good or bad thing.

And since we already know I’m secretly obsessed with celebrity news (damn you, E!), I did a little digging and found some celebs who go by stage names that really surprised me.

  • Funny! Some of these were really surprising!

Apparently my mother intended my name to be Lissette instead of Lisette. Thankfully, the nurses in the hospital wrote down the spelling I preferred. But for YEARS I spelled my name incorrectly. Um, thanks Mom?

  • wow! Some of these are really surprising. I can’t believe Blake Lively wasn’t really born with that name or Helen Mirren or Bruno Mars. So strange!

  • How interesting! I didn’t know any of these, and now I want a stage name 🙂

  • This is so interesting! I always wonder how actors come up with stage names especially if they’re something completely different than their given name. I think I’d probably keep my full name if I were famous.

  • I actually LOVE the name Neta-Lee better than Natalie! Is that weird?
I really wouldn’t want to have a second name, I wonder how you’d get used to it and actually respond to the new name?

  • Kait

Ohhh, I loved this post! I am fascinated by celeb names! Now, who comes up with their stage names?! And is that what their parents call them?! How about childhood friends? I have so many questions!

  • I knew about half of them, but the other half is so surprising!

  • This post made me realize (again) I’m way too obsessed with pop culture for my own good. I knew all of these were stage names and could name most of their real names. That should be an accomplishment right?

My mom actually named me Kati Rose partially in spite because when she went to art school a teacher told her our last name wasn’t famous-worthy. So she gave me a first and middle name I could use instead.

  • Wow! There are so many, I didn’t know most of these. Also, I’m glad Helen Mirren decided to shorten/change that name, because there is no way I would have been able to pronounce that other. ha!

  • Elizabeth

I really want to know if they have changed their names legally, or with their families. So like does Ellen call Portia Portia or Amanda? How about her mom?

  • Natalie and Blake surprised me the most!
